Help Finding Wood Insert Casting Seat and Classic Twist Thread

I saw a really nice seat the other day which was some sort of casting seat with a nice maple insert. My friend said he thought it was a loomis or at least said loomis on it. Does anyone know where i can get these wood insert tapered casting seats? If it is not factory made does anyone know anyone who makes these?

I love the classic twist gudebrod thread especially the orange and black. I am just about out of it and I was wondering if anyone had any lying around that they would part with or if any vendors have a pile I can buy from them. Please let me know.

As always I appreciate all of you guys!!! This is one of the most incredible forums out there. Hope all you fellow builders are having a nice holiday season and are finishing up the massive amounts of orders from the holidays.

Warm Regards,
Danny Colville

Sounds like a Super Sticker seat to me, though the wood inserts I've seen were rosewood or ebony, they also have a cork insert. Angler's Workshop has the cork insert style in stock, and the skeleton pieces for someone that wants to build their own insert, which is fairly easy to do. The only casts they have for making the skeletons have G Loomis on them, Loomis used a large amount of these seats on the Pre-Shimano rods. Edge rods built on Gary's new NFC blanks use them still. Wonder what name, if any, is on the seats now?
Angler's also had some of the thread you mentioned last I was in there.

Gary Schaeffer bought the company years ago but I'm not sure he's still producing the Wiebe seats.

The wood inserts for the Weibe (Super Sticker) trigger seats were made for Ken Weibe by Allen Putnam of Landmark. All of the inserts were made from what Allen termed "Diamond Wood" It was a pressure and color impregnated wood made to look like either ebony, rosewood, coco bolo, etc. Allen made many different types of reel seats and inserts. The one for Super Sticker was just one of them. He was a true innovator.

The Weibe Seat is still available. I think Anglers Workshop carries them. The current rosewood mid body will not work with a spinning hood, only casting.

We use the wood mid body on special orders. For everything else we use the offset, a concept first dreamed by Gary Loomis and Ken Weibe years ago.

Let me know if you can't find one and we'll put one together for you.
