A few months ago I posted asking for opinons on using a very dark green thread on the Rainshadow titanium finish blank, and I finally got that rod done. I used Pro Wrap Evergreen nylon (not color fast) with Pro Wrap Smokescreen color fast trim, no CP, and it came out just like we wanted. My son asked for the combination for an "understated, elegant" look, and I think it worked. I posted 3 photos, none of which really shows the color right, but you can see it is very dark and rich looking. I call it "midnight green."
[www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] The rod (Rainshadow XSB 843) features turned foam ramps off the size 17 seat for a really comfortable grip, and weighs 3.7 oz. The guide setup is a sort of hybrid fast reduction setup using Alps Y guides for the two reduction guides (25 and 12) based on a Stradic 4000 reel, with Alps single foot fly guides to the end ( #6). Y guides were selected as the tallest guides that will fit into the rod tubes on my son's boat. It is intended to be used mostly for 1/2 oz swim jigs in weeds for largemouth bass. Since I screwed up two of the factory labels trying to put them on, I did my own label with the rod specs and a version of my logo. Re: Rainshadow titanium finish blank with very dark green

Michael,
I like the look very much. I am wrapping a couple of these rods next week. I may have to try that color. Thanks for the great example. Be safe Re: Rainshadow titanium finish blank with very dark green
