Doing my first fly rod soon. It will be a 4wt for sunfish. I'm new to this. What grip styles do you folks prefer? I have long skinny hands - 8.5" from the wrist crease to the tip of my middle finger. I'm leaning towards a fat cigar or ritz, and I may do it out of foam and carbon. Being a newbie, are there any styles I should shy away from? _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. Either of those would be good, even a full wells where you can rest the thumb. Those style of grips fit bigger hands better in my opinion. Re: Flyrod Grips

I am a fan of the old Fenwick/Heddon style grips. Re: Flyrod Grips

A Ritz has a lot to recommend it because you can increase your purchase on the grip, or lessen it, by moving your hand just slightly fore or aft.

I have large hands too, and I agree with Tom. A Ritz is hard to beat, although I like the full Wells, half Wells, and Cigar too. All of them have benefits. For a 4 Wt. for sunfish, any one would work well for you. Re: Flyrod Grips

How long is the rod? I love cigar grips but prefer something else for longer rods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
