New to this site so I hope this query is in line with proper behavior - I recently wrapped a rod with rec guides and the same fellow wants me to wrap his flipping stick using the new guides designed by Dee Thomas. I would like input on both types of guides. Years ago we use to use aetna foulproof guides for their flexibility and light weight - I thought the rec guides were of this ilk.
thank you, Burt Re: rec and Dee Thomas flipping guides

All though I have not tried them, I personally don't like the design.
If you need info as to where to purchase them? send me an email and I will forward it to you Re: rec and Dee Thomas flipping guides

Try doing a search for "DEE THOMAS (“DTâ€) Guides". They are on his website, on the products page. Also tackle tour did an interview with him, it's all on the net.
Dee is a bonafide legend, so I will give him some credit on the design. Don't know the quality of the guides or anything other than what I read. If it were me, I'd build him what he wants. That way you can test the guides and see if you like them. Good luck. Stan Re: rec and Dee Thomas flipping guides

Thanks for the replies - I had a devil of time with the rec's (I've been away from rod building for a long time) - they were pricey but I think they may be really good for sensitivity and flexibility. - The Dee Thomas guides are to be provided by the customer so I guess I'll "learn as I go " with them. Anyone wrap flipping sticks in a spiral - that is can you wrap a retractable butt with that configuration? I can't see why not but then I've never done it.
Glad to have found this site, lots of time has passed since I did this for a living - the choices out there now are rather intimidating for an old schooler. Burt Re: rec and Dee Thomas flipping guides
