How much guide finish for a 5wt fly rod

Hi All
I am both new to this forum as well as rod building and reading alot of the articles.
Busy putting together a shopping list and progressing well.

Being from South Africa where shipping rates and import duties hit us hard, I am trying to do
a one stop shop and single order for my first build.

My question is this:
Can you please give an estimation of the quantity of guide finish an avg 5wt rod would use.
How much should I buy, bearing in mind I would want to practice on an old blank first?
Will buy some extra eyes for this purpose.
Would hate to run out on the actual build.

Been looking at Mudhole and want to get the FlexCoat Lite finish, but they seem to only sell
in kit form with other finishing items.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Dave.

A small 2 ounce kit would do several 5-weight, 9-foot fly rods.

the 2 oz kit with syringes will give you plenty to practice with and finish the rod. plus some left over. i usually mix 2cc of each part and that is enough for the entire rod. If I feel it's too thin I can always go back and do a second coat. The Lite version does a really nice finish on fly rods.

Thanks Tom and Gary. That solves that problem.
So purchasing the FlexCoat Lite kit from MH would suffice?

Regards
Dave

Apologies to Mudhole. Found the correct link on their site

The problem Dave is you will be paying a premium for that size and the shipping will be about the same either way. You could order an 8 ounce kit and have enough to do a dozen or two rods and not get hit again for shipping so soon.

If you buy 8 it will likely be on the shelf for years, inevitably darkening a little with every year. I'd stick with the two oz.
