using veneer for trim

I have never used corian or the like for trim on a handle but presently am building a rod for which I'd like to employ it. The customer is an LSU fan and requested a yellow blank, so I want to use bright yellow trim on the handle to match the blank. Is corian the best, and how would I purchase it for this? I went to my local Lowe's a while back but they didn't sell samples. Is there anything specific I need to know regarding preparation and use of it?

Try a Specialty Cabinet Counter Shop for color choices and sample availability, and you can have the blank painted if you wish

You can order samples from DuPont direct, it's been a while sense I ordered from them, but you used to be able to get them from 2" to 4" square.

Barry, the blank is indeed being painted - it's a CTS and they have a bright yellow color among their choices.

Now for the next question: I looked at the Dupont site, and they don't have a bright yellow color for Corian. What's a material I could use that would give me a bright yellow and would be good for trim rings?

That looks like it could work, Bill! Have you used acrylic for trim before and if so, anything I should keep in mind as far as working with it?

I had glued some plastic from a child's large box cover It glued and stayed nicely
That Tap I think they have regular plastic also
I washed the stuff I used with alcohol Then scoffed it with 220 paper dry for grip Glued with Contact Cement

You can use acrylic pen blanks if you can get by with 1" or less [www.woodpenpro.com] . Another option would be to look into wine stopper blanks [www.beartoothwoods.com] .

Old credit cards and store gift cards make nice trim rings too if you can find them in the colors you want.
