Thorne Bros Ice Rods

I have a couple of TB ice rods (Finesse, Panfish Sweetheart) that I need to order tip tops for, the ones I bought previously were to small. I went to measure them last night and my digital caliper died, does anyone know the size of the tips on those rods?

Scott,
Call Thorne brothers and Lonnie will take care of you.
However, I am pretty sure that they are size 4 or less.

Roger,

I emailed him and he told me they were size size 5 barrel 3 and I asked for clarification and he hasn't gotten back to me. I had a few minutes here at work to throw an order in quick so I was hoping someone here knew.

Pretty straight forward
That message means that the ring on the tip top has a size 5 diameter.
It further means that the barrel, that slips over the rod is 3/64th in diameter.

If you can't get a size 3 - which is somewhat difficult to obtain, you can use a size 4 barrel and either add additional glue, or do a thread wrap on the tip, to build up the tip of the blank slightly.

Be safe

Scott - you could also use a single foot fly guide to tie on as well. works pretty slick on ice rods.
