Hi
Doing lots of refurbishing on old rods at the moment and I now have lots of old eyes that are good except they are discolored (going greeny) are there any chemicals that will clean them up so I can use them for future projects? Or should I just go at them with steel wool?
Thanks in advance for any answers
Andi

Green is the color of stainless corrosion. The green can be removed but it can indicate microscopic pitting that can travel all the way through the metal and weaken it substantially. Proceed with caution.

Jim is right. Other than making a match on a repair where someone isn't willing to spend for all new guides.....I wouldn't waste my time as the money saved is much less than the cost of labor and materials....and todays guides are typically better (IMHO).
