Number of Guides For Fly Rod

The general rule for the number of guides on a fly rod, if not using Static Guide Placement, which I like, is a guide for each foot of the rod, plus one. So, a 9 foot rod will use 10 guides and a tip top. Does that standard still apply? Re: Number of Guides For Fly Rod

It's a good starting point, but if you do a static test and find things work better with maybe one less, or one more, that's fine too.
