Hi All,
I am about to build my second rod. I think I am hooked, plus my friends are all putting in requests now! Just finished a white MHX843 with micro guides. Fished it several times now and love it. I wanted to look at different colours for blanks. Which vendor would have the best selection for different colours? Can a blank be painted? Is this process a difficult process to make it look good? As always thanks in advance for your time and feedback! I should of mentioned I am going to build a casting rod for spinner, light crank baits. 8 - 16lbs? 6'8" range. Suggestions are more than welcome. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/11/2013 12:27PM by Chris Tulk. Re: Coloured Blanks

Chris,
Just above the sticky posts at the top of the main forum page is a search button. If you type in painting blanks and set it to show all dates (instead of the default most recent 30 days) you will find over 600 posts on the subject. Re: Coloured Blanks

Lamiglas and CTS have colored blanks for me in a variety of colors. The colors I remember on the wall at Lamiglas was bright red, Espirit burgundy, pink, white, black forest green, blue, Certified Pro brown, Early IM700 brown, and black. Might of missed some. Re: Coloured Blanks

Ask Merrick Tackle. Lamiglas graphite blanks come in Pink, Candy Apple Red, Translucent - Red - Blue - Green or Brown. Lamiglas fiberglass blanks are Candy Apple Red, Pink, Gloss Brown and Forest Green. Is it possible to order just one blank in a certain color but it will cost a certain amount. For 12 blanks of one single color that cost is zero.
There is also a Japanese retailer, a pretty big name that floods several markets already, including the Japanese one, that sells different components, from reel seats, guides, extention tubes, to blanks, including USA blanks, like St Croix and Merrick Tackle is a source for their products but someone has to ask if the blanks are available from Merrick Tackle. They charge for the paint job but they can offer with few exceptions any blank from their catalog, including MHX! The color list is here: [www.rodbuilding.org] but they can also paint the blank to match the extention tube, being it carbon or titanium: [www.rodbuilding.org] I'd post a link to their catalog but I don't know if I am allowed. It's not an exotic name and I guess many people are already familiar with the components these Japanese can provide. For more, Merrick Tackle is the only name I know where I'd ask about it. Maybe Merrick Tackle themselves can offer some painted blanks. To have a MHX blank painted in Japan and then brought back.. I am giving this just as an example. It isn't cheap to get it already painted and it is also possible to get it painted somewhere else, outside tackle industry. Re: Coloured Blanks

They charge for the paint job but they can offer IT with few exceptions ON any blank from their catalog, including MHX. They have their own catalog, in Japanese. And Merrick Tackle just brags about being their exclusive dealer. I don't know anything else. Re: Coloured Blanks
