Broken Winston 4 wght
Morning all...I have a 8'6" Boron Winston I have broken about an inch from the ferrule. Because of issues with Winstons Service Dept and my stubborness I refuse to send it back for another $200 repair. Is there anyone out there that will attempt this repair or give advice as to how I might repair myself. The break is on the top piece and about an inch from the ferrule. (I am since ever so more careful when I "throw" my beadhead woolybuggers). Thanks Bernie Re: Broken Winston 4 wght

This might be of some value if you aren't able to find anyone to enact the repair:

$200.00 repair? Winston has an"unconditional Lifetime Warranty" if the owner registered the purchase. If so, the cost is $50.00 to cover S &H plus the insurance. Quite reasonable, especially if it is owners error! If the purchase was not registered.....another owner error!
I personnally have broken and had them repair 3 of their rods. service was speedy and top notch work. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 09/02/2013 04:28PM by Phil Erickson. Re: Broken Winston 4 wght

Hi Bernie,
If you don't want to do this work yourself, I would be happy to help. If you unhide your email in your profile, we can discuss if you are interested. If you want to tackle it yourself and have questions, just post them here and we'll help you through it. Terry Re: Broken Winston 4 wght

The rod in question was sent in for repairs WITHOUT a warranty and that was fine with me. The $200 seemed a bit high but that was fine....all because I really like the rod. What I did not like was the hassle of repeated e-mails and phone calls with no reply for weeks on end and than to be told there is no record of me. The "icing" on the cake was when the rod after only a weeks time broke in the same area and then there has been no reply to my recent e-mails.....so...that is why I say "I quit" with the Winston Service Dept.
Terry...my e mail address is bam4816@comcast.net. I would be interested in talking to you. Take care all Bernie Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
