G'day Guys,
Well the time has come to upgrade from a hand wrapper to a power setup. I want something good that will last for a long time. I think my two options are the Renzetti or the Custom Powerwrap. It looks to me like the CPR uses the little jiggers that actually put tension on the thread rather than on the spool like the Renzetti, which makes me lean towards the Renzetti. It's a bit hard to get a good look at the Renzetti from the website (photo is small) but does it act as a dryer too! Any comments on either machine appreciated and if there are any accessories I should get please let me know. It will only be used for wrapping as I have a wood lathe for shaping/turning. Cheers Jason PS Forgot to ask what size thread spools these machines can handle. They don't seem to say on their websites. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 08/30/2013 01:56AM by Jason Groombridge. Thanks Barry,
At least I can see now what it looks like. The photo on the Renzetti site is just way too small. Cheers Jason Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

If I didn't need to transport my CPW from time to time I would have bought the Renzetti. The CRW takes just minutes to throw under your arm and go or setup when you get where your going. Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

I have the Renzetti thru Dale Clemens. I've had for 25 years and it is just as good today as the day I bought it. I got all the extras which are nice to have. I don't need a extra lathe to do grip or wood work Plenty of power. I put the blank on my lathe and leave it there till finish. Made a motor mount for a slow turn motor to rotate the rod with finish cures. Grat all around lathe Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

There was an article in a recent RodMaker detailing how to add a low RPM motor to the Renzetti in order to use it for drying purposes.

I have had 2 Renzettis for well over 35 years. Have tried others and they don't hold a candle to them. Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

Yes I have a Clemens Wrapper That has Been converted to DC Power that I installed a Drying motor on a swing arm that uses the same drive belt as the main motor. Very easy to change over

Jason, The Renzetti comes with one motor that is speed controlled with a foot pedal and isn't conducive to drying at slow speed although I guess that it can be done by stacking the proper amount of weight on the pedal. I got one extra rod support (thinking about a second) and an extra 3 ft bed section as I sometimes wrap surf rods. The thread holders will accommodate most of the spool sizes but they (IMO) are the weak point of the system. I think that the Renzetti is the best power wrapper on the market and you won't go wrong buying it. DonO Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

You wouldn't want to use the turning motor as a drying motor - it's not designed for that type of slow speed, long term continuous duty.

Thanks Guys,
I appreciate your feedback. Where can I buy the Renzetti? Do I have to go straight from their website or do any of the suppliers on the left stock them? Cheers Jason Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

Jason I would go straight to the manufacture to see if they have available motors with 220-240v motors & if they will deal with you or through one of their dealers .Be prepared for a hefty freight charge .It's a long way from the U.S. to OZ Regards Baz Bundeena NSW Australia Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

Barry, I saw your belt drive. Now that's a belt drive, it looks like it came off a Harley Re: Renzetti or Custom Powerwrap

Thanks for all your input Guys,
Can anyone tell me the Volume number of the Rodmaker that has the article about adding the drying motor? I will try ans source it through Ian Miller if he still keeps Rodmaker here in Aus. Cheers Jason Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
