Custom Made Reel Seats

Before I left to come over to this god for saken desert I was working on rebuilding an old rod of my dads. It was an old Berkely Cherrywood rod, the blank itself is red the foregrip and rear grip were red foam and the reel seat was red. I am planning on putting on refinishing the rod putting new guides on, a new grip and reel seat. I would like to find a reel seat that is classy yet something that is going to be eye catching. Nothing that I have seen that I can buy is quite what I am looking for. Does anyone on here build custom reel seats?

Do a search on custom reel seats. There are several builders here that might be able to help you out. There are also a good many style and type seats that allow you to mix and match parts.

How red is red? True red or some variant shade? What are you looking for? Here's something different, Cholla skeleton filled with Red Polyester Resin [s1.bild.me]

I believe when it was new is was a nice deep red, but over time the sun and elements have faded it to more of what I would call a mild to light red. It still has some deep hue to it but its not as vibrant as it once was I am guessing. I hope that with alittle TLC I can bring some of the vibrance back to it.

Berkley Cherrywood rods were oringinally a burgundy wine red, with a hint of metallic.

that is exactly what I would call the color I found underneath the guides I have taken off. The color I would call it now is more of a strawberry.

Scott

At the last 3 EXPO's I have purchased several (probably 10 or 12) very nice turned acrylic reelseats from Lance at Swampland. They have the look of polished colored marble or glass. Very nice coloring. No two were alike and all were different color combinations. . I think he makes them himself. He may be able to turn one for you that will fit the bill, or maybe he has a couple already to go. Give him a call or e-mail him.

Look at the Matagi web site, they have some really nice painted reel seats. I think you can order them through Billy Vivonia.
Good luck.
