A while ago I bought two Pac Bay Rain Forest II MBC783 blanks. I got a great deal on them. I'm thinking about building one as a casting setup and one as a spinning setup. Since these are "Mag Bass" blanks and meant to be built as casting rigs, does it make sense to build one as a spinning rig or will that setup not work well? Nearly any blank can be made for spinning except off shore rod blanks rated for 50#'s on up. Re: Blank usage

Randy I kinda agree with you but, if someone was paying you to set up that blank for a spinnig reel, you wouldn't do it? Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: Blank usage

Dennis, I have made spinning rods for up to 30# IGFA rods, I do not however know of a spinning reel that would have the capacity to be loaded with enough 50# test line to work with a rod blank rated for 50# test line. They may be out there, but I don't know of one. .A Marlin or Tuna can strip off hundreds of yards of line and needs a reel with a large capacity. I made a couple of IGFA 6# test rods for a famous fisherman but they were for conventional reels. He set a couple of records off Christmas Island in the Pacific. Re: Blank usage

The blank has no idea what type of rod it's being used for. It's a tubular shaft, that's all.

I have built a few of those blanks up as spinning rods and they work very well. Re: Blank usage

I knew that's what you all would say, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the feedback. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
