I read that the lure building guys are using this to keep their moisture-cure urethane fresh. I wonder if it would work with PG? [www.bloxygen.com] _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. That's sort of the whole point." - Thomas McGuane Re: Bloxygen

I believe some have reported that they use it with PG and have had good results with it.

What is it, and how does it work? Re: Bloxygen

From the website - HOW DOES IT WORK?
Bloxygen uses ultra pure Argon, a powerful and natural inert gas to drive the oxygen out of your container. Simply blow the oxygen out of your container with Bloxygen and then seal the lid. The heavy, inert Bloxygen gas sinks down to block oxygen from the liquid surface. Because Bloxygen is heavier than air, it will separate the liquid surface from any air that may remain in the container. It should keep the PG from curing in the bottle. _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. That's sort of the whole point." - Thomas McGuane Edited 1 time(s). Argon is used in almost anything that you want to keep oxygen out. It is just a lot heavier works great with TIG welding. Lone Wolf Rods "Keep your powder dry and your lines wet" God Bless Re: Bloxygen

It's also sold in wine stores to protect a half used bottle of good red. It keeps the wine from oxidizing and retains the freshness. Steve Hartzell Lake Conroe - Willis, Texas Re: Bloxygen

You're going to buy different air for $10 to keep a $5 bottle of Permaglos fresh? Re: Bloxygen

You can also get it in wood stores, such as Woodcraft. Re: Bloxygen

I've never used Bloxygen but I have used argon. I was a welder/boilermaker for close to 30 years but I do not have a tig or mig welder at the present time but I do have a propane torch. When I use PG I always blow a little propane gas in the bottle before I put the cap on. I then put the bottle in a small plastic container ,upside down, and keep it in the fridge. I've got PG that has been open for close to a year and it is just fine. The propane gas is heavier than air so when it goes in the other atmospheric gasses are forced out. Keep the bottle upright until you get the cap on tight. Turning the bottle upside down puts the propane in the bottom of the bottle and the thicker PG against the cap. If there is a tiny leak on the threads the PG will plug it where the gas could escape. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
