Looking to build my drum dryer... What are you using to turn it. are the typical rotisserie motors strong enough to hold up ???
Thanks Re: drum dryer

Casey,
Not the typical motors. After doing a bunch of research, I have been using the 12 volt DC gear motors from China that run at the appropriate rpm. They are available on the internet. Since they are DC motors they are reversible as well. Also, no over heating issues as is the case with AC shaded pole motors. Casey, Drop me a line and possibly I can help source some parts: hflier@comcast.net Roger Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/09/2013 12:05PM by roger wilson. Re: drum dryer

As long as you support the drum portion externally - meaning no weight on the motor shaft - rotisserie motors can work really well for light duty use. Hydra Fishing, LLC Online: [www.hydrafishing.com] Facebook: [www.facebook.com] Email: info@hydrafishing.com Re: drum dryer

That was how I built mine - the motor was connected to the drum by means of pulleys and belt. This also allowed me to set the RPM of the drum to suit the finish I was using.
