So I am working on a surf pole for a family member, and decided to go with a purple and pink combination. I got the purple and pink from Madeira and know that it needs CP but was going to use gudebrod metallic threads to accent it. Will the CP affect the gudebrod? And if so how many coats should I put on? - Thanks - Tyler Re: CP on Gudebrod NCP?

I have yet to encounter any CP that will affect any NCP thread. In a similar fashion, CP will not affect a metallic thread. Most CPs will have a slightly darkening effect on nylon and polyester threads.

X2 what Mike said.I usually use 2 coats of CP. Try this trick when you get ready to put finish on rod when coating madeira thread. When mixing the epoxy put a1"-2" piece of madeira thread in the mix
prior to stiring. Madeira is notorious for getting fish eyes and doing this seems to solve any problems. It was told to me and I have never had a problem since. Even with CP I still used to get some before trying this trick. Dont know how it works but it does. Tim Re: CP on Gudebrod NCP?

Hi Tim,
It works by making the surface tension of the finish mix the same as the wraps of madeira by adding silicon (from the thread). It works well on the darker colours but the lighter ones go translucent if you don't use cp. I've been using madeira for around five years now on quite a few rods. I use three coats of Chromaseal and have never seen a fisheye and get spool colours. Tyler, I've used a number of different metallics and holographic thread with madeira and the cp doesn't affect the metallic in any way. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: CP on Gudebrod NCP?

At least one wet coat of CP will help to eliminate bubbles by filling any air space in the thread Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
