Flex Coat bone burnishing tool.

Hi,

I saw this item in the new Merrick Tackle catalog, # FCBB1. It looked interesting so I ordered one. It is oddly shaped piece of polished cow bone.

Have been using it for about a month and I like it. I find the wraps are much smoother after I burnish them compared to the way I have burnished in the past.

Was just working on a paracord butt wrap and after feeling how smooth and flat the paracord is I wanted to post this info for all.

Sold 14 of them at the show. Just about everyone that picked one up bought one.

A piece of 1/4 inch stainless steel rod that has been highly polished and buffed, then cleaned will work better than any thing than I have ever tried. Just my oppinion. Plastic is just not able to be polished to the degree that I desire and require. Randy

Hi Randy,

That me be so but what I like about the cow bone is that it varies between 1/2 to 1 " wide and gives a nice wide flat area to lay over the wrap. In essence it applies pressure to many more threads and giving a more even pressure to the area.

That would be like using a long board in boat building...burnishing just isn't as tiring.

I bought one also and love it. I have used it with Nylon and Silk. Nice tool. You can pack with it also on the flat edge portion.

Any other sponsors besides Swampland have this tool? It looks great and I would be glad to buy it from Swampland but shipping is almost 3 times the cost of the item itself........

No matter who you buy it from the shipping is going to be expensive if you only buy one item.

Donart has them and their shipping charges are much less for smaller items. Ordered one on Capt. Neil's recommendation, looking forward to receiving it and trying it out.

If you buy just the burnishing tool, ask the shipper to just drop it in a first class envelope and ship it for 45 cents.

Just got mine from Donart, a great sponsor from the Left! Very nice tool and works well. Placed order on Sunday and received it on Tuesday. They have a very reasonable sliding scale rate for shipping that made it worthwhile. Thanks to Capt. Neil for the recommendation and to Donart for the great service. Will definitely order from them again.
