NRX Spinning Handle Design from Gloomis

Guys was wondering how they construct the spinning rod handle on the GLoomis NRX rods. Is that constructed using the Fuji skeleton with cork, and a separate cork insert between the components. Haven't seen one in person so I was hoping to get a few thoughts.

Looks like Fuji 17mm skeleton w/ cork center installed threads down, KDPS foregrip w/cork installed on bottom to tighten seat.

Is there a link to a photo you can provide? I gave a quick look at the website and couldn't find what you're asking about.

I'm pretty sure it s a size 16 skeleton seat with the KDPS but don't hold me to it, its been a while since I handled one. Anyway the cork insert is turned to flush up with the hoods. You'll ahve to have the reel you'll be using to get the correct spacing between hoods for a good fit. Another way to get the look and feel is to use a DPSM seat and glue a cork or eva piece between the hoods, reamed to slide over the seats barrel and the area for the reel foot cut out.

G Loomis has never used a 16 mm seat, from the first Gary knew they weren't as comfortable, even their lightest rods were always 17mm. One reason the early rods used a lot of Wiebe reelseats was due to size and comfort.

I think the question would be, "Why change a positive attribute of your world famous rods for the last 40 years for no good reason?"

Spencer I believe you are right they are a size 17 , according to my buddy . I remember them feeling pretty thin, so i thought size 16, but again it's been a while since I handled one.

OP
I'm building a lamiglas right now with a similar handle, turned the insert to the same dia. as the size 17 hoods, flatened the bottom for the reel foot ....no kdps on this one tho....feels kinda tennessee handle like but with locking hoods.
