Need to convert a 1 piece graphite blank into a two piece. Tried the search and the library w/ no results. I know there's another "how-to" source but haven't used it in a while and my great memory is of no use, as usual. Any help with that or a basic tutorial?? Thanks people. Harry T. Try your best to get a two piece rod blank. It you really need to mod your existing blank I would say spigot Re: converting 1 piece spinning blank into 2 piece

I believe Ralph O'Quinn did an article in Rodmaker magazine.
Basically, you create a ferrule by cutting a piece of a rod blank that has a corresponding taper, and fits over the section where you are cutting your blank. It is then epoxied to the top half, and strengthened with thread. Hopefully, someone will chime in with the Rodmaker magazine issue number, if that's where it was....... What do you mean by "spigot"? Thanks Re: converting 1 piece spinning blank into 2 piece

A spigot ferrule is created by inserting a piece of blank, usually solid glass, into the rod blank, where you cut it, and making it stick out from the bottom half far enough for the top half to slide over and complete the rod.
If you do an internet search for spigot ferrule, there are some tutorials. Chris Re: converting 1 piece spinning blank into 2 piece

I hope that's not the 7 foot ultra light rod we were talking about. ______________________________________ Super Tight Lines......Don Re: converting 1 piece spinning blank into 2 piece

Got it, Thanks! Found a site online selling fiberglass rods of varying diameters at good prices, free shipping. Could be a good source for making plug ferrules. Re: converting 1 piece spinning blank into 2 piece

Harry,
A spigot can add more weight than a regular ferrule, and can be more work. Something to consider for an ultralight...... Chris Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
