With so many varnishes and other finishes out there... I would like to try using a different product for finishing nylon and silk wraps on lighter fly rods (6 weight or less) that does not involve expoxy. I'm looking for something that remains clear (does not yellow with age), is suited to exterior use (can get wet and hold up to a wide range of temperatures), can be applied in three or more thin coats, and preferably offers some UV protection. Does such a finish exist? If so, what is the name/brand of the product? Thanks in advance! Re: Wrap finish options?

Sounds like you're describing Permagloss to a tee. Re: Wrap finish options?

I have used permagloss a bunch and the one great feature in addition to the rest is that you can clean the rod with alchol without worries of the finish getting soft. I have heard that to be an issue with some of the others. the stuff is bullet proof! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
