Good Morning,
I have a question about a weave I am about to do. It is a Red Fish tailing. I have three colors that I will incorporate into the weave. Black, Copper for most of the tail and brown to shade some areas. I mapped it out on a 1" equals 8 Grids paper it had 60 threads and 72 wraps. My question is size. Will this be large enough for a wrap to show the detail? I have read that 8 squared per inch is good, just worried about size. I will also be using size D thread. I will try to post a picture up if I can of the drawing. Thanks for the help. Re: Red Fish Tailing weave

To have more detail, you want a larger overall physical size and smaller thread. The more threads per inch, the smoother the image becomes. Of course, if it's too small overall for anyone to really be able to see it well, then you haven't accomplished what you want.
There are some problems with very small thread, of course, one of which is that it doesn't cover a dark background thread very well, even with CP, so you have to be extra careful about packing the wrap. ............ Re: Red Fish Tailing weave

The size is fine. I have a bass pattern that has 50 design threads. I've made it in size A weave threads with size D wrapping thread, and in size D weave threads with size E wrapping thread. Both show the detail well. With your pattern you will need a light background wrapping thread to make the dark colours stand out. Jersey, Channel Islands. (U.K.) Re: Red Fish Tailing weave

I have to agree with Steve, that should be fine. I use A thread for both the background and the weaving threads and have no problems. When finish is applied it appears to be painted on the blank. Good luck with your weave.
