bamboo fly rod

I am trying to help someone build a bamboo rod. We have the rod blank, and I wondered if there is any source information I can find to help me put the components on the blank. I am experienced at rod building with a graphite or glass blank, but have never built a bamboo fly rod. ALso a name or list of companies that work with this type of rod. I know Golden Witch is one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Sanford Hochman

You do it the same way you would put them on any other sort of blank. The process is the same. Finishing of the wraps is only different if you decide you don't want the high build look of epoxy. In that case you either apply the epoxy very thin for a more traditional varnish look, or use just a few coats of varnish, urethane or PermaGloss.

Bernard Elser penned a book called Fundamentals of Building a Bamboo Fly Rod that you might enjoy. While mostly about crafting the blank, it has some chapters on fitting out and finishing.

Angler's Roost has a VERY high quality line of bamboo rod ferrules that do not need to be lapped. They fit perfect right out of the box.

Probably one of the biggest considerations is to make sure the flats of the sections are perfectly lined up so the guides are properly lined up on the flats and with the reel seat.
