Question about rod guide size

Hello guys/gals who have helped me out a ton but just don't know it since I have only now registered to post. I am brand new to rod building so please bare with my newb questions which will surely pop up even after I dig through old posts. I have been a long time lurker on this site and you folks are great so here I am. Alrighty, so here is my situation and question.

My buddy is a rod builder who gave me a tubular fiberglass rod blank (7ft., 20-40lb.) and some guides. I built a complete rod two times with what he gave me, from start to finish, because I am a poor single dad and I also wanted to learn everything I could about how the rod I built was done. Both backwards and forwards. I figured as I pulled everything apart on the break down I could find my flaws in the build. So I now have this rod built the way I want it and the Jigmaster reel I am using works great with everything. I am going to order an 8ft. gatorglass blank for jetty fishing here in Texas and I am going to mount a Senator 4/0 on the rod. I measured the first guide on the rod I previously built because I really want a larger first guide for the taller 4/0 than what I have on the 7ft. rod I built with the jigmaster mounted to it. The guide measures right at 3/4" which is a hair over 19mm. I'm stumped....Is this a size 20 guide? Are some guides or even all guides not spot on? I'm still learning here and I have searched for an answer to this question but I can't find anything that helps me. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to posting here regularly with my rod builds so that I can show off my progression.

Charles

Guides are measured from the inside to inside of the frame. Disregard the ceramic, if you have it in there, and measure inside frame to frame, in millimeters. That will give you the size.

That's what I thought and when I measured I got exactly 3/4". That gives me really close to 19mm.

That would almost surely make it a size 20.
