I'm in need of a travel swimbait rod. I'll be doing some traveling this year and was wanting to do some swimbait fishing where ill be going. baits will weigh anywhere from 3-10oz. I'll be using either a Calcutta 400 or a Z2020.
any blank suggestions? thanks Re: multi-piece swimbait rod

You may have to look outside of those blanks specifically labeled as "swim bait" blanks and try to find something else that carries the same general ratings.

Batson makes a SW967 that is a 2 peice blank. 10oz might be too much for that blank but for lighter baits they are a nice blank.
Good luck. Stan Re: multi-piece swimbait rod

Cheng,
I've had the same problem. Musky fisherman are looking for longer rods to throw big baits but they need them in a two piece configuration. No such animal exists. I build on quite a few Tackle Industries blanks so what I do for these guys is buy a factory two piece TI rod, strip it, and rebuild it. Right now, it's the only option as TI only offers one piece blanks. Their 9' two piece XH is rated for 3-12oz, would that work for you? jeremy Re: multi-piece swimbait rod

Surf blanks seem to be the only thing that you can get in a two piece and handle the weight
If too long perhaps you can trim a lighter blank to handle the weight and be the size you need ?? Bill - willierods.com Re: multi-piece swimbait rod

thanks guys for the suggestions.
I'll take a look at those TI rods. I've been looking at surf blank for some time now but if I go that route I'd be trimming upwards of up to 1' off of the blank...don't want to do that... Re: multi-piece swimbait rod

If you have the CCS system set up you can measure a blank of say 6 oz and see if the trim will help it to carry 10 oz
But measure - before - you trim Even ask your supplier if they would measure ?? Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
