I see St Croix advertising a new FRS graphite for 2013. Last year they were building with a 3-M graphite which was supposed to have nano reinforcement. Dos any one know what the difference is? Same stuff different supplier or something completely new. Re: St Croix 2013 vs 2012

I believe it is roughly the same material from a different supplier.

My understanding is, that the 3M nano product is a resin, not a carbon fiber. According to the St Croix web site their new FRS is a Fortified Resin Sytem, that incorporates a new resin and curing process. They may or may not be using the same carbon fiber. Edited 1 time(s). I just took delivery of a 2013 SCV 9'6" 8wt blank and sure hope you are right. Not an inexpensive blank and beautifully finished. Just in hand the action feels perfect, but I won't know for sure until Salmon season. I have a previous generation of the SCV in an 8 weight and love that one, so I'm hoping this one is another step up. Drew Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
