Who sells good quality aftermarket slow RPM motors for making a rod dryer? I like the ones Flex Coat uses but did not see anywhere on their site to order just a motor. Re: Need 10 to 20 RPM Drying Motor

You could probably just send them an email or call and they would sell you one. Mud Hole also carries the 18 RPM motor as a replacement only, about $35.

Try Grainger, they sell everything. They have 4482 page catalog. I have found just about anything I need there. Re: Need 10 to 20 RPM Drying Motor

James,
If you get an ac motor, you have to be sure that you get the right kind. If you get a shaded pole motor and run it without a fan, you will get severe overheating problems. A better choice is a capacitor start AC motor. Or, You could go with a DC motor and then just use a wall plug in power supply to power the motor. Roger Re: Need 10 to 20 RPM Drying Motor

Ridge,
That all depends on the motor: For example: Here is a very nice 20 rpm, that you could use to winch the boat on your car if you want to spend $400 for the motor: or, This is a nice 20 rpm 12 volt DC motor that would work well for a single rod dryer: [] or: this is a 16 rpm timing motor that would work for one rod for $4. [www.surpluscenter.com] Or: Here is a nice variety of motors that -- depending on the motor could be used as a single or a multiple rod dryer: [www.surpluscenter.com] this is a very nice tough little motor. Remember, with DC motors - apply 1/2 the rated voltage to the motor and the motor will turn at 1/2 speed. So, if you take this 24 volt motor and power it with 12 volts dc, it will turn at a nice - 13 rpm. [www.surpluscenter.com] Nice price on this one at $12. Long enough shaft for easy mounting of a chuck or pulley if you use a pulley to drive the dryer. Roger Re: Need 10 to 20 RPM Drying Motor

in indonesia it's only cost you $1.5-$2 for 1 brand new drying motor and $6-$9 for sewing machine motor for power wrapper
unfortunately shipping cost from here to US is very expensive Re: Need 10 to 20 RPM Drying Motor
