Being new to rod building , I hope you guys bare with me with some of my questions ......I appreciate your talents , and advise
When you have your guides lined up the way you want them , and you do your static test and adjust each guide the way you want , you generally cast the rod to see how well it casts ......My question is this .....How many times do you find yourself adjusting the rod again after casting it ? ......Do you find yourself adjusting it much at all after a good static test , or are generally pretty much in the ball park with your static adjustments ? ..... If you DO make adjustments , what adjustments do you find that you end up doing the most , or are there any that stick out in your mind ? ......Do you even find that you have to make a major change ? ........Thanks, Jim Re: After the static test ?

To be honest I almost never move the guides again after I get good static spacing. Casting seems to be fine. I think its hard to do a really bad job on a casting rod once you have the guides spaced well. Now on a spinning rod I use the NGC as it shows in the library page here. Once I do that and it casts great I find that the static test looks equally good. Re: After the static test ?

For spinning rods especially, I find myself moving the 1st stripper guide around for best casting performance. This means readjusting the others before the choke guide a little to maintain the line path. Many times I end up back in the same place but not always. I have never found an occurrence of moving the running guides at all.
