What are these blanks best suited for?

Bought a couple of blanks that were on sale. Figured the price was right. The blanks are Batson XP964 and XP903.

I'll assume they will fish popping corks just fine. I hear a lot of folks talk about using popping blanks for crankbaits. Also curious how they do with jigs/soft plastics. I haven't built any popping blanks so I'm looking for basic info on what they are best suited for (fresh and saltwater). Reading over posts it seems they get used for a lot of things.

Lasty, is the 4 power rod really up to snook?

IMO the #4 works great but is light for bigger snooks. But it all depends on the line you use. If you stick with 8 to 10 lb test I think it's great.

Great all-purpose inshore blanks. Wait until you handle them to judge their abilities.

XP903 TC 7'6" 1 8-14lbs 1/4-5/8oz 0.485 5.00 Mod-Fast M 1.75oz Inshore popping corks /redfish /snook

Popping blanks are my preferred blank for for fishing crank baits also (bass fishing) like them much better then fiberglass rods.

By all accounts these blanks are about as good as it gets. I'm really looking forward to having them in hand.

Right now I'm fishing for advice to help me decide if I'll build them as spinning rods or baitcasters. I'm thinking that if I was building for popping corks I'd go with a spinning reel and if I was building for crankbaits/soft plastics/jigs I think I'd go with a baitcaster. Right now I'm leaning towards a spinning reel on the 903 and a baitcaster on the 964.

I could see myself using them in either fresh or saltwater. Most of my fishing has been offshore so I'm a little ignorant on the whole inshore/freshwater stuff.
