Hey guys,
Got a question for you all. Do any of you know if there is a company that prints custom rod stickers for wrapping, not decals (similar or the same as rod skinz)? I have an idea for a pattern that I can not find readily available and I was hoping one of you may have a direction or avenue for me to pursue in order to have a custom one made. Thanks in advance. If you have ever tried making your own labels with vinyl or water slide paper, you could possibly make it yourself. I have made several labels using different color smoke patterns, lightning, wade fishing backgrounds, sunsets, underwater fish, etc. It's not difficult if you have a decent software program that uses layers. David,
I am sure the topic has been beat to death on this forum but could you recommend vinyl ro water slide paper? Do you need a special printer to print it? thanks. Re: Custom Rod Skinz?

I use a regular Ink Jet printer and either water slide-ink jet paper (white) or vinyl ink jet paper. It is available through several companies. Do a search on the web for ink jet decal paper and you will find several. I generally use Papilio. I hav e used both water slide and vinyl. Here is a link to their website: [www.papilio.com]
I print it out, cut the decal out, spray with Krylon Clear - 3 coats, then let dry and apply. You can also search here and find many discussions on application techniques. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: Custom Rod Skinz?

I do my own but get them printed on 3m easy stick vinyl with solvent ink no need to spray and g'td not to bleed or fade i usually get 1mtr x .5mtr for $20 at the printer down the road. I've done heaps of them never had an issue. Most sign guys should be able to do it make sure they use outdoor signage vinyl. Hi,
Not being a computer hotshot I go straight to either decal connection and their partner or MudHole. Both companies are very accommodating and both have done custom work for me. Very pleased. Capt Neil Faulkner Re: Custom Rod Skinz?

Not sure how everyone is defining "decal." If it means waterslide, I have no input. If it means putting an image onto a rod through the use of a film then I can contribute. If you have an image of what you want to put onto the rod, then you can scan that image into a computer file, then print that image onto a film, then apply that film to the rod. Not that difficult once you can negotiate simple graphics program. For most images you will get a much better image if you print it onto a white background, sticky-back vinyl film like those available from Papilio. You can do any pattern, photo, solid color, fades, anything that the graphics program can handle. Text, no problem either by itself or on top of images. Hundreds of fonts. Color whatever you want.
You are limited by the capability of your printer. Ink jets cannot print metallics or white (white is done by having no color and the white of the media is the white on your pattern/design). My strategy works best with designs specific to single or small numbers of rods. If I were doing big quantities of rods and wanted a single, consistent logo/design for my rods, I would go to a commercial source. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
