I've recently purched sheets of birch bark on @#$%& from a couple of different sellers. It all looks good. I haven't used it yet but plan to try making 1.25" rings using a hole cutting bit on my drill press.

www.birchbarkstore.com

One of the sheets that I received is 7/32" thick!! That's enough for me to use for two complete grips and reel seat inserts on a couple of fly rods. I'm saving it for a couple of future "special" projects.

I'd go with the sheets from whoever you choose to go with. You're assured of color/pattern uniformity when you're using the bark processed from the same sheet. I can generally process between 4 - 5 inches thick worth of bark needed for one of my fly grips, Plus 2 - 2.5 inches worth of bark for my reel seat inserts from an $8 - $10 sheet of bark. $8 would only get me 2" worth of birch bark thickness if I bought pre-cut rings from customflygrips.com.

I use birch bark off the trees in my backyard. It naturally peels and I get any size and thickness I want
