stripper guides

Been using the high frame spinning guides as stripping guides. I see in the photos on this site that most guys if not all use the standard casting guides. Is it matter of preference,or is the a benefit of one over the other. It would seem to me that the high frame guides are more in line with the reel and the excess line ready to be casted.

Are you talking about fly rods?

It won't make much difference, but a higher stripping guide can sometimes help reduce line slap just forward of the guide. In practical use I doubt you'll see much difference, but it's simple enough to try it on your next rod.

As with a fly rod, you are NOT shooting line directly off the reel, you really do not need a tall guide, it is just another thing to get hung up on things.

Your right Phil, I stated also the line to be casted.
