What is the recommended guide spacing for Micro Guides on a 6'6" or 7' rod?

I start at 4in from tip and increase a 1/4in each guide until I reach around 5 1/2in or get past the bend in the blank. Then you can increase 1/2in, 3/4, 1. Most of my builds are fast action 6-14lb rating and I use #4's.

Jon,
In addition to Brandon's comments; if the rod is an extra fast, I generally start at 3 inches from the tip and stay at 3 inches until I am around the extra fast bending tip, then gradually increase the spacing after that.

It is all about the speed of the rod blank. Faster blank, closer spacing.

I would say to add to above comments is that after spacing the guides

Do a static test and see how the line forms to the blank and make any adjustments

I agree with Bill. Until you get to know the blanks you are building always bend the blank. I let the line just touch the blank when static testing with micros.

I agree with what has been posted, I have built quite a few steelhead, salmon, and walleye rods and every time I start with that same basic formula and then static them and adjust accordingly. The biggest thing people have to get over is how crowded it sometimes looks because of the micros being spaced close together but what is most important is that static testing and making sure the line flows on a smooth path through the guides.

Thanks to all that replyed. It makes perfect sense in how you are doing it. I have made one other micro several years ago but don't think it casts like it shoud. I don't think the guides are spaced right. Thanks again for the info.
