Brushing on Finish?

Can you actually brush on finish with good results? Will it cause bubbles, etc.? I'm tempted to try it. It seems that it would be easier than trying to pull it around the wrap. Just wondered what you thought. Some say, yes, and some say, no.

I'm not sure I understand the bit about "pulling it around the wrap." I just load the brush, hold it above the wrap, lower it until the finish touches the thread, and rotate the rod one revolution. Then move on to the next guide. Takes 10 or 15 seconds per guide. Nothing at all hard about it.

Brushing will create bubbles, but sure, you can do it that way if you want.

Hi Tom,
I said that incorrectly. I meant I turn the rod while holding the brush as you do. Do you just soak the wrap on the first coat and then add the final coat? I'm going to have to read the tutorial again in the library. Beleive it or not. I'm done wrapping my rod, but I develop anxiety at the thought of putting on the finish. It creeps me out.

I don't do anything other than spin the rod underneath the brush. The finish then does what it's supposed to do - flow out and level.

I have long been convinced that builders run into problems with epoxy because they do too much. You don't need to manipulate the epoxy. Put it on and leave it alone.
