been kind of out of the building thing for a couple years but i need a new truck rod so would like y'alls opinion. would like a 7' or 7'6" 2 piece blank fast action med. light up to 5/8 oz. lure. it will be a normal style casting rod and it will spend most of it's time in my work truck. i was thinking of a st croix or a batson but like i said i haven't been keeping up with what's out there. i had a couple cts 1 piece rods that i absolutely loved but dealing with their warranty left alot to be desired so i won't go that route again

For value, for that type rod, it is tough to beat the Rainshadow 7 blanks by batson.

I prefer the Batson and St Croix. I haven't had a chance to build any Lamiglass blanks and really haven't found a MHX blank that even compares to Batson or St Croix. The SMF's or SMXF's have been my favorite St Croixs.

If you have the opportunity - build one of the Batson RX8 blanks. Really great blanks with wonderful actions.

You didn't say what the lower limit of you lure range was. The Lamiglas GFW 90 2M would be one I looked at, Lamiglas lists it at Med/Light in their finished spinning rod the G 1218, as mod fast but I think it's a bit faster blank that shows it in as a casting rod with the lighter guide set.
6 to 12 lb line, 1/8 to 5/8 lure rating, .490 butt, 5 tip. Makes a nice small stream steelhead or large trout spinner/spoon/plug rod.
