Long time back question

A long time ago there was information posted (and possibly an article in RodMaker) by Jessie Buky from Virginia Beach on encapsulating various pins in acrylic casting resin. I'm fairly certain that these are no longer available anywhere commercially but a customer asked me to build a couple of rods "just like Jessy's" so I guess I'll have to fabricate them myself. Does anyone have a copy of the "how to" or know what issue it may have appeared in? Re: Long time back question

I think Bill Stevens had published a paper on the method and had a few at one of the Expos. Bill's out of commission currently. You might check with Lance Dupree at Swampland. He may remember it.

Ken, Jesse published a How To on building them in an old issue of Rodcrafter magazine, I think sometimes in the early to mid nineties. I have it somewhere and will try to find it in the next day our so. Re: Long time back question

I remember talking to Jesse about how he did hsi encapsulated pins. He used pvc and wrapped it with shelf paper then set the whole thing in flex coat. He was the first to do this( to my knowledge) and it was a great idea. I did it with casting resin and was able to make reel seat inserts. It is alot of work. Re: Long time back question

Ken - Mud Hole has about 50 of Jesse's original epoxy grips in stock in the show room but not on the web site, call and ask Bob McKamey if we have what your looking for - their is quite a verity.
JT is spot on with how Jesse made them, we would add Jesse used a flexible mold as the outside shape them poured in the flex coat. Regards.
