Specific Spinning Guide Question

On an NGC set up would you consider it too big a jump to go from a size 10 SV guide as the last reduction guide, right to size 6 fly guide runners?

Thanks!

Marc

Looking at running the guide set up like this - 25 SV - 16 SV - 10 SV - 6 fly's to the tip.

I just test cast it and it's looking good - but still would like any feed back.

Thanks - Marc

Keep it simple - that's all I can handle!

The line will only use the outer inside edge of the guide at that point - it is not concerned with the ring size. So you should use whatever size will put that edge on the straight line path. Height is the factor to be concerned with there, not ring diameter. So if the line path is straight, it's fine.

If your line is still traveling in coils by that point something is wrong.

I would recommend using a flex board and determine if the guide spacing and size of the guides creates an even angle change from guide to guide when the tip of the rod is 90 degrees from the butt.

10 to 6 should be fine. KR Concept goes from 10 to 5.5 in many cases with no problem.
