Can you make single trim bands of regular tying thread? I've only ever used metallic thread. I got a kit with a dark green rod. It has black thread, green thread and a gold metallic thread. Re: Trim Bands

The gold used as an inlay or trim bands would look good with either the green or black. I use silver with garnet on matte gray blanks. Re: Trim Bands

Bruce: You don't have to use all of the colors from your kit on your build. Both green and gold and black and gold really look good. I may be strange, but I do my wraps starting with the trim band, and then start the main color. I leave a long running end to the trim band, and use this to make a single turn of trim after 5 turns of the main color. I know this sounds about as clear as mud. but it works for me. Mike, I'm doing the same thing. Start with a trim band, I do usually 4 turns then go into the main wrap color. Then, finish the wrap with a trim band of 4 turns. Looks good using either gold or silver thread, but I usually use silver.

Does that make any sense? Re: Trim Bands

If you want another trim - yes - hold onto the thread and use it again Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
