Oh, Canada.
I am looking for a 3 or 4 piece blank for the purpose of throwing 1 oz. Daredevle spoons or Len Thompson #4's (also 1 oz.). For the last three Canadian fishing trips I have been heaving these spoons with a 3 piece St. Croix PS70MF3, 7' long, Medium Power, Fast Action, rated for 6 - 12 lb. test line and 1/4 - 5/8oz. lure weights and have been warned that repeated casting of 1 oz. lures on this blank could damage the tip. For this new, beefier rod, I am looking at another St. Croix blank, also 3 piece - the 2SW70MHF3, 7' long, Medium Heavy Power, Fast Action, rated for 10-20 lb. line and 1/2-1 1/4 oz. lures. I am entirely happy with this, but curious to hear some other ideas for USA MADE blanks. I would also like to hear any opinions on how much the line rating matters versus the lure rating. Lure rating, I buy in to. but line rating is based on monofilament and that comes in so many flavors and diameters. As I mentioned, I like to use lighter lines and would love a blank that worked with 8 lb. test well and also let me cast those 1 oz. spoons. Thanks, Tony Re: Travel Rod for 1 oz. Daredevles

Check out Batson Rainshadow RX6/E multi-purpose 3 piece rods. I have built two each of the SWT70H-3 heavy and SWT70MH-3 medium heavy for fishing in Alaska. Excellent rods!! I am in the process of building the SWT70M-3. I am sure that one of the three will fill the bill for you Ron Jack Bowdoin, Maine Re: Travel Rod for 1 oz. Daredevles

IC847-3 has been a huge hit for many years. Since it features RX7 graphite not only is it sensitive and Light but with added thickness of materials its very durable. Have a look here [www.batsonenterprises.com]
