I am building a Jigging Rod and the grips are to be made of Green American Hypalon. The problem im having is i want to match the green of the grips with a green thread. i have plenty of different shades of green thread but none of them come close enough to make me happy. would any of you experienced Rod Builders know of some Thread that would match?

The only way I can match that green hypalon is by using black thread and using black hypalon. lol. Re: Thread to match Green hypalon

If you can't find a perfect match, maybe do a fade with colors a bit lighter to a bit darker. Re: Thread to match Green hypalon

Hi Aaron,
Look at thread like madeira or brother, they have lots of different shades of green and there's bound to be something close. Madeira and brother are similar in strength to size "a" rodbinding thread and I've had no problem using madeira for guide wraps. For 30lb and over I use a double overwrap with a coat of finish in between. Craig's suggestion is also worth a look.
