Hey guys,
I'm gonna build a new 7' rod for a Shimano 2500 Stradic, 10# braid, 1/8-1/4oz jig heads & gulp shrimp. I'm thinking of building a lam glass blank & trying to find out what the differences are between blanks. I'm looking at the Saltwater XLS842, Fast Action Spin Jig LSJ842, and Poppping LP842 and am trying to find out what the different characteristics are of the 3 blanks. If anyone can describe the characteristics of these blanks it would be greatly appreciated so I can make a good decision . Re: need help again on deciding on a blank

I would recommend the Lamiglas XMG LP843. Re: need help again on deciding on a blank

Tom, just a thing to think about: if you test out a 10# braid like power pro, and you can tie good knots for braid, it will break more in the early 20# range at the knot! A sort of rule of thumb with power pro: change pounds to Kilograms and think of it that way as the knot strength.
If you want an actual around 10# setup for pomps or specs, think of downsizing the reel to a 1000, it will hold enough 6# power pro and make for a very pleasant rig to fish on 842 blanks. Re: need help again on deciding on a blank

Re: reel choice... you are fishing the wash...you're fishing for whatever hits your line..10# pp is great BUT i'd never go below a 2500 size reel just my thoughts. The LP 842 or 3 make dandy dropshot rods also. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
