Hey guys, I have been reading quite a bit on here over the past couple weeks and decided to order some parts to build some rods. I ordered an MHX spinning kit for my girlfriend and I don't think I will have any trouble with that.
I'm starting to wonder about the parts I ordered for my casting rod. It will be a batson IP842 7' blank, and fuji micro guides. I was thinking about spiraling the guides and ordered based on a post I found on another site, though of course I can't find it now. Anyway, I'm wondering if I ordered the right guides and enough of them for what I want to do. The guides are (2x) LAG 6J, (8x) LAG 4, and the FAT 6 tip top. Can you guys tell me if these will work right or if I need more or something different all together? I understand how to do the spacing for the most part by flexing the rod, just a little unsure on this. Thanks! Re: First Rod Build - Spiral Micro Guides

My preference especially with that model blank would be 6-5-4-then 3's.
But what you have ordered will work fine Re: First Rod Build - Spiral Micro Guides

I have built several of those blanks. I use a 8DF, 2-5's for the transition and then 5-4's and a 4.5 MCAT tip. I also like to use the ktag's for the transition guides since they are braced better for a single foot guide. If you need guide spacing, let me know. Re: First Rod Build - Spiral Micro Guides

I use a DF size 7 then KTAG6, KTAG5 then KTAG4 (x6) thru tip (MCAT4.5). Re: First Rod Build - Spiral Micro Guides

Dustin,
I have followed Steve's advice in the past and he will not steer you wrong! You will be very pleased with the results. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
