I killed a nice Copperhead this morning, and just skinned it. I would like to tan it or preserve it and use it on a rod. Any one ever done this? I've seen plenty of info on using snake skins, but none on using a snake you killed. Re: Snake Skin

Flesh it out really well. Salt it with non iodized salt till it dries out. When you go to use it just cut it to size and then I soak mine in CP till its rehydrated and put it on the rod. Re: Snake Skin

Thanks for the reply. Do you scrape the scales off? I read somewhere that it would look better if I did that. Do you lose any color when you do this? Re: Snake Skin

You can do either, but most prefer the look with the scales left on. I have done both and with scales looks much more better......lol ______________________________________ Super Tight Lines......Don Re: Snake Skin
