Making myself a couple leadcore walleye trolling rods. I noticed most store model shorty leadcore rods have a trigger seat, while some of the longer ones and most downrigger rods do not have a trigger. Never done it. Do I need/want a trigger seat? Mine will be 8' 6" and I will be pulling 3 colors. _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. Chuck,
I would not make a leadcore rod without a trigger. As a matter of fact, I made a heavy action rod with some extra parts that I had laying around. The reel seat ended up being a spinning reel seat. After using it for one outing, I took the rod into the shop, cut off the back grip and reel seat and put a trigger seat and new grip back on the rod. Especially with a heavier reel as is the case with a lead core reel and heavier line and action as is the case with a lead core rod, the trigger really helps in day long comfort and control of the rod. Take care REW Re: Walleye Leadcore rod details

If you are holding it all day, I agree with Roger. If it goes in a rod holder, I don't use triggers. I dislike triggers and tubular rod holders. The triggers are always catching on something. Re: Walleye Leadcore rod details

I build a fair amount of Erie downrigger and trolling rods and though it's a matter of preference, I exclusively use the Fuji Palm Support real seat and everyone that I have built them for love them (especially charter boats). The "trigger is a sloping piece farther back than an actual trigger and the heel of the hand rest against it [www.mudhole.com]
Around here the most common rod holders are the metal tube "Rocket Launchers Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
