Hi All,
Just signed up to try and learn abit more about rod building.
Started building rods a few years ago and then got too busy for the last couple of years, now i'm back into it.
Love getting out in the man cave with the heater going and the stereo or tv and potter around working on a rod or building something or other.
Cold wet and miserable here at the moment as it's winter, so what better place to be.
Hope to be able to learn something here or maybe someone might learn something from me (don't know what).
Just thought i'd say g'day and hopee you all have a great day.

Hi Garry,
Welcome aboard. This is a great site and there's stacks of info available, not just new posts. Check out the library and the search function on anything you want to know. Use "all dates" when searching and you'll turn up heaps. Don't be afraid to ask questions as no one here thinks they're trivial. Been an influx of Aussies lately and good to see another one.
Weather here isn't that flash this time of year but it's never too cold to go fishing or do some rodbuilding.

Hello all,
I am brand new to this site and I was wondering if any of you had an answer to a question I have. My grandfather was a huge surf fishing fanatic and used Calcutta bamboo to build his rods. The last two he built I helped him and learned how to do it, not as well as he did, but enough to get by. Was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some decent Bamboo to build a couple more, and also if anyone knows how to refinish the older ones I still have. I really appreciate any input you have!
Thanks
Mark
