I have upwards of 50+ blanks (and growing) in my shop and am looking for a creative storage solution for better protection and inventory management.
Currently, I just lean them against a wall or a cabinet, which works fine, but I would like to store them in a slotted or gridded storage bin of some sort. How do you store your blanks? Thank you, in advance, for your comments. Jon Re: Storing Rod Blanks

PVC tubes hanging from the ceiling, separated by size/action. Re: Storing Rod Blanks

If you have ceiling room, pvc tubes stored vertically by size and brand.

I found a really nice black ceramic floor standing flower vase that my wife "HAD", it now stores all blanks very nicely... Re: Storing Rod Blanks

In addition to having overhead PVC tubes I have a "rod rack" using an open wire mesh closet organizer. (I kept forgetting to check the overhead storage before I ordered more blanks) It's about 4' long x 18" deep slotted with 3 rows of slots It has about 150 blanks standing vertically and not "leaning". That method allows me to sort & store rod blanks by length / "action" / intended use / composition / maker or however I want. The only problem I have with it is that I spend time sorting & resorting the blanks because I haven't decided how to sort them. On the other side of the work area I installed a second rack for rods in progress. Those I sort by 'step in process' - ordered & waiting for handles to be glued; glued & drying (waiting for handles to be shaped); waiting for guides to be wrapped; awaiting parts; repairs pending; waiting for pick up/ delivery; Since I've decided to back off a little I'll probably pull stuff from the overheads & resort them on the two racks. /... Hey I'm retired so I can play with my toys for hours at a time.... Re: Storing Rod Blanks
