Tarpon Travel Rod

I had a customer as me to make a travel rod for Tarpon fishing. He is looking for a rod that is 3 pieces that can be easily transported on a plane but can still handle large Tarpon. Does anyone know of a blank out there that is up to the task?

The Batson IC747-3 or IC847-3 should do the trick.
What length does the customer want?

Regards
Dave

St Croix SCII Inshore ... 2SW76HF3 will handle MID-SIZED tarpon with finesse. I am not aware of any travel rod/blank that can handle "large tarpon". You are talking about a 150-175# fish with a bad attitude. That takes serious guns. You could build a Rainshadow SWT70H-3, but it will be 6" shorter than my minimum standard for tarpon and 8" shorter than my preferred length. You need a longer rod to "steer" the fish around the hull, motors and other obstacles. Good luck in your search.
