2 piece chrome reel seat

I have 2 friends that want their old rods dolled up but want to keep their two-pieced chrome reel seats on the polls. Even though the seats look in new condition I can`t seem to seperate them. I`ve tried WD40 and even tried heating them up with no luck. Is there any way to seperate the two halves without destroying the seat?

Peter, there is sometimes a nut that holds the two pieces together. It will look like part of the reel holding mechanism, but its not: it can be difficult to see immediately.

These particular reel seats don`t have locking nuts.,just the male and female ends
