At the Expo this year one booth had these small Ceramic Scissors for sale . They are only about 3 inches long and have a snap on cover for the blade. I bought 2 sets ( that was all that they had left when I saw them). They are amazing little set of scissors. I have tried to find them on line and have had no luck. What is really amazing is they were only $5 a pair. They looked similar to these:
[img233.imageshack.us] The booth was on the back row and I want to say it was right at the center walk way, across from the booth with the bamboo rod kits. Does anyone know where I can get more of these, several members of my fishing club have asked for info on them. Or does anyone know (Tom?) who's booth they were in and how to reach them? Thanks Eddie [aparrotlooksat51.blogspot.com] [newwavegardeningexperiment.wordpress.com] Re: Ceramic Scissors

I bought a pair also and really like them. I do have a problem getting really close cuts with them when using to cut tag ends. I'm thinking about putting mine in my bass tackle to use as braid scissors. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: Ceramic Scissors

I have several pairs and one pair I modified by drilling a small hole in the cap and putting in a split ring, I attach the split ring to a coiled cord with a clip on the end like they sell for keys. I keep the cord clipped to my belt loop or some other convenient place and since the scissors have a cap I can keep them in my pocket, with the cord I never have to worry about where I laid them down. I picked up a couple pair of these same scissors as a special throw-in deal somewhere. They cut well, but aren't good if you need tip cutting. I haven't dropped them enough to see how they hold up to that. :-)

Bill,
No, I didn't care for them at all. The same is true for some very expensive ceramic knives that I purchased. I tried and tried to like them but in the end, they were given away. Compared to metal, ceramic is thick and simply (at least for the products that I had) did not have and couldn't get that razor edge that I like on all of my cutting products. Since these products continue to be sold, I am sure that there are lots of very happy folks using them. My best wishes to those folks who do use and enjoy them. Roger Re: Ceramic Scissors

For everything except extreme tip work I like scissors that work best when I push them rather than squeeze them. How do these ceramics work for push cuts? Is the edge serrated or smooth? Is it possible for the user to freshen the edge on these ceramic scissors? Re: Ceramic Scissors

Edge is micro-serrated, stays sharp a long time
I do not think it is possible to sharpen them at home... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
