carbon fibre

Can you use cork or EVA under a carbon fibre sleeve? What would you use to bond the sleeve to the grip? Thanks

Cork makes a good shim for carbon fiber sleeves. You don't need cork the whole length of the sleeve, each end, then one or 2 spots in the middle, depending on length. For a short grip, end shims alone are probably fine. The urethane foam arbors are a little better, if you can get them in the right size. These can be the whole length of the sleeve.

Rod bond is the best choice for this job, my opinion.

Hi,

How about using the fiberglass dry wall tape? It has an open grid design. Rod bond fills the open grids and when completed you have a very strond noit where once was an open area.

You can indeed use drywall tape for shimming these, however the gap can sometimes be large and require a lot of tape and epoxy. Cork arbors keep the weight down.

You can use cork but you will loose some of the sensitivity I would use the shims. I beilieve they are 24mm that fit the most common grips but double check.

Harry, yes you can use cork, that's how I first began with carbon fiber recently, I've never thought of using the shims like Terry mentioned - Thanks Terry!

I just used some epoxy over the cork, then added the fiber.
